Training
Vanessa Thurner
I founded Coolabah Equine, previously known as “Load em’ Up – Float Training” in 2018, when I noticed the increasing amount of horse owners who struggled to load their horses at comps. Whether it be a lack of knowledge or a “fear of floating”, my aim was to help establish and solidify the foundations in their horses that would help individuals to safely self-load their horses.
Previously travelling to clients and being a mobile service we now have a permanent base in Fiddletown where we are able to offer a larger range of services at our facilities.
I have been around horses all my life. Growing up I had a wonderful mentor and coach, a truly humble horseman who enjoyed the quintessence of ‘good’ horsemanship. He taught me patience and perspective which I apply to my mindset and training with all horses and in all aspects of life.
I regularly competed in Campdrafting, Team Penning and Australian Stockhorse shows across NSW prior to 2019 when I took time off to expand my family and welcomed our first son into the world in July 2020, the youngest member of the Coolabah team.
My main goal is to try and break down my horsemanship training into a relatable & easy to follow process in an effort to help individuals form a better relationship with their horses and cultivate a deeper understanding of the foundation on which all successful horse training is built.
My words to train by are:
•Remain Soft
•Remain Kind
•Remain Humble
